The route is being revitalised following the Government awarding Gateshead Riverside Partnership £1.5m of UK SPF funding to improve the route including pathways, signage and artworks along the Tyne Derwent Way. This vital investment means the trail's nature, culture and heritage can be enjoyed by all.
Darklight was asked to design an event for the community space at St Mary's Heritage Centre to be included in the launch of the project. Our program included activities for all ages, seed planting, face painting, juggling, hula hooping, and live music and dance from artists within the Gateshead community.
Northern Lights is a brand new light trail set in the heart of the city at Leazes Park. With immersive visuals and jaw-dropping illuminations, as well as a Christmas village full to the brim with festive food and drinks.
Darklight joined the team at 2Can Productions as Production Manager, Site Manager and Trail Manager roles for Northern Lights Newcastle, and have been working on the project throughout the year to bring this amazing project to fruition.
Halloween at the Hall, was a project of two parts, to cover both the daytime visitors to the National Trust's Seaton Delaval Hall, and also an after dark audience with the expectation of a scare or two. Based on local ghost stories and legends it brought the building and it's well known characters to life!
Darklight were the Design Team for the creative and technical content. Teaming up with The Prop Making Company for the installations within the basement. We also provided the lighting and sound for the full experience on site, and managed the live performance aspect of the event.
Grief Floats was an offer of communal reflection, on all we have lost and are losing, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the North Sea.
Darklight joined the team at Company of Others to provide Event Production and Technical support.
Working with North Tynside Council to ensure a safe environment for the performance at King Edward's Bay, and Silent Disco Newcastle who assisted with the provision of sound equipment for the unique performance conditions.

Darklight provided a stage for the days musical entertainment, this was built and dismantled in one day, with a roof thankfully as it rained for most of the day. Installing power for the stage area and some of the catering on site, with a quick BS7909 sign off before the event opened at 11am

Darklight managed the on site deilvery of the event, installing both the infrastructure and artist installations. The event this year attracted over 30,000 people to Gibside.
